British marquee Land Rover has done away with their unloved Freelander model. Having been the smallest and rather ugly child of the Land Rover family, the Freelander’s demise has given birth to the uber Land Rover Discovery sport. The new 2015 model is a cross between the Range Rover Sport and stylish Evoque and the family genes are instantly recognisable.
The new model is aimed at the likes of Audi Q5, Porsche Macan and Mercedes Benz ML. With its new sleek design, the Discovery sport will appeal to mid level executive who aspire to drive a Range Rover one day. It will go along with their designer watch, Italian shoes and Bulgari designer handbags.
Besides the feminine soft and sweeping design, the Sport is expected to be capable both in the urban terrain and the off road rough stuff. However, it is unlikely that owners would be enthusiastic to take the Disco sport off roading. The Disco sport will feature a 2.2 litre SD4 diesel engine pumping 187 bhp and a 150 bhp eD4 power terrain.
